On Friday, May 12, 2023 at approximately 0803 hours, the Corcoran Police Department received numerous calls of a male subject wearing camouflage clothing and carrying a rifle with a scope. Several reporting parties observed the male walking in the area of 6 ½ Avenue and Gable Avenue. Corcoran Officers immediately responded to that area and canvassed the area searching for that male subject. Officers located an individual matching the description, near Orange Avenue and 7th Avenue. The male subject carrying the possible firearm was detained and upon inspection of the rifle by officers it was determined the subject was carrying a long barrel air rifle with a scope. The subject advised he was heading towards an empty field nearby for target practice. Officers counseled the subject regarding the calls for service and he was transported to his residence.
