Two injured in early Friday morning shooting

On May 12th at 12:28 AM, Amarillo Police Officers were called to the 1600 block of South Georgia Street on a shooting. Officers contacted the 25-year-old victim at this location. The victim told officers that he was driving westbound on I-40 and a silver vehicle pulled up beside him and began honking. The front passenger of the suspect vehicle pointed a gun out of the window at the victim. The victim slowed down to get away from the suspect vehicle and the suspect vehicle also slowed and the passenger continued to point the gun at the victim. Due to the threat of imminent bodily injury or death, the victim retrieved his own weapon and fired at the suspects, striking the front passenger and the driver. The victim pulled over and the suspects drove to a local hospital.

The driver of the suspect vehicle, a 20-year-old male, was admitted to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The front passenger, a 17-year-old male, was admitted for non-life-threatening injuries. The back seat passenger, 24-year-old Marcos Drube, was seen on security footage discarding the gun from the suspect vehicle in a trashcan. The weapon was recovered. Drube was arrested for Tampering with Evidence and booked into the Potter County Detention Center. Charges will be pending on the other suspects once they are released from the hospital. The victim in this case was uninjured. The investigation is ongoing.
