Traffic stop leads to arrest of Haubstadt woman on DUI charge. 
On May 13, 2023, at 2:10 a.m. Deputy Loren Barchett conducted a traffic stop on a White 2019 Kia Forte for failing to maintain its lane of travel on Coal Mine Road near Fort Branch, Indiana. Upon initiating a traffic stop on US 41 Deputy Barchett approached the vehicle and identified the driver as 35 year old Sara Miller of Haubstadt. While speaking with Ms. Miller Deputy Barchett had reasonable suspicion to believe that the driver may be under the influence of an unknown intoxicant. At that point Deputy Barchett began a roadside DUI investigation. At the conclusion of his investigation Deputy Barchett transported Ms. Miller to the Gibson County Jail where she was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated/ Refusal. She has since posted a $450 bond.
Assisting Deputy Barchett in his investigation was Deputy Logan Lashbrook.
All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
