El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from April 30th - May 6th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from April 30th to May 6th.

April 30th

Stolen vehicle - 5600 block of El Dorado St: An Officer reports the theft of a Pick-up truck.  It was last parked on the street on April 29, 2023, at 0700 hours. 

Stolen Vehicle- 6400 block of Portola Dr:
At 8:30 PM, an officer reports the victim was making a delivery and left his vehicle running. Upon return to his vehicle, the driver discovered it had been stolen.

May 1st

Vandalism – 10386 San Pablo Avenue (Little Kathmandu Restaurant): Officer reported an unknown suspect broke the front glass door of the restaurant resulting in $1000.00 of damage. 

May 2nd

Trespassing and Fighting on School Grounds –540 Ashbury Ave. (El Cerrito High School)
At 12:21pm, a juvenile, who is not a student at the high school, entered the campus and got into a fight with a student. The juvenile was placed under arrest, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to his guardians.   

Battery – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky)
At 3:22pm after security told the suspect to leave, the suspect tossed items all over the store.  As the suspect exited, they struck a customer in the chest.  The suspect fled the store towards the Plaza BART station.
 
May 3rd

Forgery – 1400 block of Vista Dr.
At 9:19PM unknown suspect cashed two fraudulent checks using the victim’s business accounts. 

Battery on School Grounds – 7150 Portola Dr. (Invictus Academy)
At 12:02PM the suspect pulled the victim to the ground by her hair and punched her several times on the face and torso.  The suspect was suspended from school.   
 
May 4th
 
Shoplifting – 6050 El Cerrito Plaza (Barnes and Noble)
At 12:23PM the suspect stole items from inside the store and fled in a vehicle.  

Grand Theft – 3020 El Cerrito Plaza (T-Mobile)
At 4:51PM the suspect stole several electronic items on display by cutting the security wires off, and fled southbound through the parking lot.    

Armed Robbery – 10422 San Pablo Ave (Bank of America).
At 7:43PM, ECPD officers were dispatched to an armed robbery at the ATM.  Two armed suspects robbed the victim at gunpoint.  The suspects then fled in a vehicle northbound San Pablo Ave.

Armed Robbery – BART path / Eureka Ave.
At 11:01PM, the victim was riding his bicycle home when one suspect pushed him off the bicycle and the other suspect pistol whipped the victim.  The victim’s cellphone and wallet were stolen.  Both suspects fled southbound on the BART path.

May 5th

Organized Retail Theft – 420 El Cerrito Plaza (Petco):
At 11:56 AM, three unidentified suspects stole three large bags of dog food worth a combined total of $351.00

Shoplift- 5805 Cutting Blvd (Skechers): 
At 6:34 PM, an officer reports the manager confronted two suspects for stealing. One of the suspects gave the merchandise back, while the other left with eight pairs of shoes. 
 
Tampering with Vehicle - 7901 Cutting Blvd (North Berkeley Country Club): 
At 10:10 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle by damaging the ignition. The incident occurred in between 10:45 AM and 9:45 PM.
 
Stolen Vehicle Recovery-11700 Block of San Pablo Ave. 
At 2:05 AM, an officer reports a towing company had removed a vehicle from the parking lot at the apartment manager’s request. The tow employee later discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Richmond Police Department on 03/24/23.
 
May 6th

Shoplift- 3020 El Cerrito Plaza (T-Mobile): 
At 6:37 PM, an officer reports the suspect entered the store and used a pair of pliers to cut the security wires on several items. The suspect fled the store with the items without paying.
 
Stolen Vehicle- 3400 block of Yosemite Ave: 
At 7:06 PM an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 2019 Kia Optima. The vehicle was located unoccupied by RPD in Richmond.

Commercial Burglary- 11360 San Pablo Ave (Olivero’s Plumbing): 
At 4:24 AM, officers were dispatched to a possible burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle backed into the business. As officers approached the vehicle, the suspect exited the business with property and jumped into the vehicle. The suspect fled the scene after colliding into a patrol vehicle.
