The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating an attempted robbery that occurred on May 16, 2023, just before 11:00 AM, in the 800 block of Trestle Glen Road. When officers arrived, they learned that two individuals (one armed with a firearm) approached the victim and a 15-month-old child and demanded the victim's belongings.
During the incident, the armed individual discharged their firearm causing shrapnel injuries to the child.
Oakland Fire Department (OFD) and paramedic personnel responded to the scene to provide medical treatment to the child. The child was transported to an area hospital for additional treatment and is currently listed in stable condition.
