INCIDENT: P.C. 29800(a)(1) - Felon in Possession of a Firearm
LOCATION: 5500 Block of Mariposa Avenue, Twentynine Palms
SUSPECT(S): Keith Allen Hunt, 39-year-old Male Resident of Twentynine Palms
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station responded to the 5500 block of Mariposa Avenue, in Twentynine Palms, for a domestic disturbance call.
The reporting party called 911 after he heard a female scream for help from inside a recreational trailer on the property. Deputies arrived at the location and attempted to make contact with the female inside the trailer. Deputies knocked on the door of the trailer several times but got no answer. The reporting party told deputies the female was still inside the trailer and had not left. Deputies also learned the female's boyfriend, later identifed as Keith Allen Hunt, was inside the trailer, possibly armed with a shotgun.
Deputies attempted to communicate with the female and Hunt, but they did not exit the trailer. Eventually, deputies spoke to the female on the phone and convinced her and Hunt to exit the trailer. The female was not injuried and Hunt was found to be on active parole with a no bail warrant for his arrest.
A search warrant was executed at the trailer and deputies located two shotguns, one being a sawed-off 12-gauge. Hunt was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for P.C. 29800(a)(1) - Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
