LOCATION: Desert Area, West of Interstate 95 / South of Highway 163, Needles, CA

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a desert area in Needles after an officer with the California Highway Patrol discovered a deceased male subject near a truck. Needles deputies responded and determined the victim suffered trauma consistent with a gunshot wound.
The Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail also responded and assumed the investigation.
At this time, it is unknown when the murder occurred. The victim was transported to the Coroner’s Office where positive identification and next-of-kin notification are pending.
