INCIDENT: P.C. 245(a)(1) - Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: 6400 Block of Split Rock Avenue, Twentynine Palms
SUSPECT(S): William Walter Franks, 32-year-old male resident of Twentynine Palms
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 5:00 p.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station responded to the 6400 Block of Split Rock Avenue, in the city of Twentynine Palms, for a victim who was stabbed during an altercation. Several people called 911 after a fight broke out at the location and a person was stabbed. Deputies responded and found a male victim with several stab wounds to his left arm and one stab wound to his neck.
During the investigation, deputies identified the suspect as William Walter Franks and located him not far from the crime scene. When deputies tried to contact Franks, he fled on foot. Deputies appreheneded Franks after a short foot pursuit. Franks was arrested without further incident and booked into West Valley Detention Center for P.C. 245(a)(1) Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The victim was transported to the High Desert Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries.
