INCIDENT: P.C. 245(a)(1) Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: 33000 block of First Street, Daggett
SUSPECT: Joseph Clarence, 30-years old, Newberry Springs
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Deputy W. Spurlock was dispatched to the 35000 block of Mojave Road in Daggett, in reference to an assault. Upon arriving, Spurlock located a male victim who was suffering from visible injuries.
The victim stated he had been struck from behind causing a laceration to his head. After attempting to defend himself, he was struck a second time on his knee. The victim was knocked down and began screaming and the male suspect left. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The suspect was positively identified as Joseph Clarence, 30-year-old resident of Newberry Springs. An arrest warrant was issued for Clarence for assault with a deadly weapon. On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Sergeant Parks located Clarence in Daggett. Clarence was arrested without incident. He was transported and booked into the High Desert Detention Center.
