Man Arrested After Hit and Run then Crashing into a Building
MERIDIAN- On 5/17/2023 at approximately 8:50pm, the Meridian Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported hit and run near Franklin and Eagle in Meridian. Shortly after, an injury crash was reported near the 3000 block of E Magic View Drive. Officers arrived on scene and observed a blue pickup truck upside down with a single male passenger located inside which had crashed into a building. Fire crews quickly stabilized the vehicle and began extrication. The driver of the vehicle, forty-one-year-old (41) Justin SLY was safely extricated from the vehicle and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
SLY was later arrested, transported to the Ada County Jail, and charged with one (1) misdemeanor count accident-leaving the scene or failing to stop for damage accident, one (1) misdemeanor count consumption or possession of an open container, and one (1) misdemeanor count driving under the influence (second offense).
