Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé requests the public’s help with identifying the below-pictured suspect, who robbed a business owner of $2,000 at gunpoint on May 19, 2023. 

At approximately 7:04 p.m., the armed male suspect approached the owner from behind as she was closing Emily’s Beauty Supply LLC, located in the 400 block of Elizabeth Avenue. He demanded that she give up her pocketbook with the cash, and then hit the victim with the weapon. The suspect took the pocketbook and fled westbound on Watson Avenue.
 
The suspect, described as a Black male in his 20’s, is 5'10" with a thin build and a medium brown complexion. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweater, tan cargo pants, and grey/black Air Jordan 4 sneakers. He has a slight mustache and lower facial hair.
