One juvenile shot, another stabbed in downtown area

On May 21st at around 8:10 PM the Redwood City Police Department responded to a report of a subject who had been shot in the downtown area, near 750 Marshall Street. Two juveniles were located with serious but non- life-threatening injuries.
One juvenile, a 15-year-old male, suffered a gunshot wound to his upper leg. It appears to have been caused by a self-inflicted, accidental discharge as a result of the juvenile having a firearm in his waistband. The firearm was not recovered and was believed to have been taken from the scene by as of yet unidentified associates of the juvenile. A 9mm casing was recovered.
Another 14-year-old male was found to have a minor stab wound to his upper back area. It is currently being investigated as a separate incident, but detectives are looking into any connections between the two events. Both were transported to the hospital for further treatment.
The Redwood City Police Department is actively investigating this case.
