CITIZENS PUBLIC SAFETY ACADEMY
The Citizens Public Safety Academy (CPSA) is a Community Based Program of the Red Oak Police and Fire & Rescue Departments. The Red Oak Public Safety Academy is a 14 week course of instruction designed to give the public a working knowledge of the Red Oak Police Department and Fire & Rescue personnel and policies. It consists of a series of classes, held once each week for two hours. The instruction is comprehensive, covering a different area of the police and fire departments each week. Officers, Fire Fighters, supervisors, and personnel assigned to that particular division conduct each instructional block. The Red Oak CPSA covers such diverse topics as training, communications, fire safety, criminal investigations, crime scene search, search and rescue, crime prevention, programs for children, and many additional topics. Instruction in these and other topics will consist of lectures, demonstrations, tours and hands-on. The class is made up of a cross section of the Red Oak community. Doctors, architects, homemakers, laborers, students, secretaries, salespersons and others are encouraged to apply for admission. The Academy is held twice each year. The minimum age for enrollment is 18 and you must live, work, or attend school in the City of Red Oak to be eligible to attend.
