Central Marin Police Authority Assists CHP with Felony Arrest Involving a Firearm
On May 23, 2023, at approximately 5:30 PM, California Highway Patrol (CHP) received a report that a man had brandished a firearm toward another driver while traveling northbound on Highway 101 near Paradise Drive in Corte Madera. CHP provided information about the crime, suspect, and suspect vehicle to Marin County agencies so they may be on the lookout. Two Central Marin Police Authority (CMPA) officers heard the CHP broadcast while returning to Larkspur from a Special Response Team training. The two officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Additional CMPA and CHP officers arrived on scene to assist in safely apprehending the suspect involved in the firearm brandishing. A loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect was arrested by CHP and booked into Marin County Jail for several felony violations involving a firearm.
This arrest was a good example of teamwork that resulted in getting an illegal firearm off the streets.
