Flash Flood Warning until 02:30AM Friday

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Central Quay County in east central New Mexico... East Central San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...

* Until 230 AM MDT.

* At 1208 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in Tucumcari. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Tucumcari and San Jon. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 321 and 356. State Road 104 between Mile Markers 95 and 105.

* AFFECTED AREAS: QUAY, NM ... SAN MIGUEL, NM

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. To report flooding, contact your local law enforcement agency and your National Weather Service office when you can do so safely.
