Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 01:45AM Friday

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Southeastern San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico... Quay County in east central New Mexico... Northeastern Curry County in east central New Mexico... Northeastern Guadalupe County in east central New Mexico...

* Until 145 AM MDT.

* At 1244 AM MDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Variadero to Broadview, moving southeast at 10 mph. HAZARD...Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Quay, Tucumcari, San Jon, Grady, Ragland, Montoya, Glenrio, Conchas Lake State Park, Conchas Dam and Newkirk. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 287 and 373. State Road 104 between Mile Markers 46 and 105.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CURRY, NM ... GUADALUPE, NM ... QUAY, NM ... SAN MIGUEL, NM

Instructions:

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail, damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
