CARJACKING ARREST
Maple Shade, NJ

Chief Christopher Fletcher announces that charges have been filed in an armed carjacking that occurred on Wednesday May 24, 2023.
Michael Disantis, a 20 year old male of the 400 unit block of 115 East Kings Highway, Maple Shade, N.J. is charged with Robbery, Theft of a motor vehicle, Aggravated Assault with a firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Shotgun and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes.
On Wednesday May 24, 2023 at 6:04PM the Maple Shade Police Department were dispatched to 100 Fox Meadow Drive for a reported motor vehicle theft. The victim reported that he was an Uber Driver that picked up a male in the Tacony section of Philadelphia and was to take him to 100 Fox Meadow Drive in Maple Shade. The victim stated that upon reaching 100 Fox Meadow Drive the male produced a handgun and pointed it at the victim, he then demanded that the victim turn over his Bulova wrist watch and exit the vehicle a 2020 Honda Accord. The male took control of the Honda Accord and left the area. The victim provided a description of the male with the clothing description matching that of what Desantis was observed to be wearing earlier in the day. Desantis was a suspect of an earlier carjacking that occurred in Maple Shade around 12:45AM on the 24^th of May. The victim’s stolen Honda Accord was located in the complex of 115 East Kings Highway where Desantis resides and additional investigative leads resulted in charges being issued against Desantis for the carjacking. Maple Shade Police officers set up a perimeter around Desantis’s residence and after he was observed exiting the residence he was taken into custody without incident at 11:12AM. Upon the execution of a legal process at the residence of Desantis, the search revealed a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun with hollow point bullets a sawed off Boito double barrel shotgun, as well as  a wallet and wrist watch belonging to the second carjacking victim. Additional charges are expected to be filed against Desantis for the first reported carjacking. All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Desantis was committed to Burlington County Jail pending a Detention Hearing. The investigation was handled by the Maple Shade Police Department with Detective Scott Pacheco being the lead investigator
