On 5/11/23, a theft by access card occurred at the Bank of America ATM in the city of Malibu. The pictured suspect walked up to the victim who was at the ATM withdrawing money ($300) and said that the victim had dropped a $10 bill on the floor. The victim retrieved the $10 bill from the ground, grabbed his debit card from the ATM and walked away. When in his vehicle, the victim realized that his debit card had a different name on it. The suspect had already left the location. The bank told the victim that $500 was withdrawn from his account after the $300 withdrawal. The suspect had swapped the victim’s debit card with another one by distracting the victim with the $10 bill on the ground. The suspect was close enough to see the pin the victim entered at the ATM.
