Narrative:

Thousand Oaks, Calif. – On May 25, 2023, a DUI / Driver’s License Checkpoint was held on westbound Avenida De Los Arboles east of Kensington Ave. from 6:00 PM until 1:00 AM.

There were 937 drivers contacted. Four drivers were cited for operating a vehicle with license violations and eight other drivers were cited for miscellaneous vehicle code violations. We are happy to report there were no DUI arrests made at this checkpoint as any intoxicated persons were passengers.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes and areas of high traffic accident occurrences. The primary purpose of a DUI checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads. Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
