Flash Flood Warning until 07:30AM

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Northern Quay County in east central New Mexico... Southeastern Harding County in northeastern New Mexico... Northeastern San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico... Southern Union County in northeastern New Mexico...

* Until 730 AM MDT.

* At 429 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Nara Visa, Logan, Ute Lake State Park, Conchas, Conchas Dam, Conchas Lake State Park and Bell Ranch. This includes the following highways... State Road 104 between Mile Markers 69 and 100.

* AFFECTED AREAS: HARDING, NM ... QUAY, NM ... SAN MIGUEL, NM ... UNION, NM

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly or mountainous terrain there are numerous of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
