BURN PERMITS
Now that we finally received some much needed rain; the City will begin to issue Burn Permits for recreational fires in town starting on Thursday, June 1, 2023. Please contact Public Safety at 546-3130 for a burn permit. Please observe the following safety tips:
- Do not burn trash or brush outdoors.
- Keep a "safety zone" surrounding the home clear of dry grass. Grass should be cut short in this area as well. A good rule of thumb is 10 feet.
- Stack firewood at least 15 feet your from the home.
- Maintain a 10-foot area free of dry grass around your fire pit.
- Use a non-flammable enclosed fire pit with a screen (with mesh no coarser than 1/4 inch thick).
- Never leave a fire unattended. After use, place hot ashes in a metal bucket and soak in water or cover remaining burnable with dirt or put out with water.
- Keep a shovel, bucket of water, fire extinguisher, or other fire suppression tools on hand.
