INCIDENT: Terrorist Threats, False Bomb Threat
LOCATION: 6300 Block of Sunny Meadow Lane, Chino Hills
SUSPECT(S): David Catalan, 27-year-old Resident of Chino Hills
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Monday, May 29, 2023, at approximately 8:00 PM, deputies were dispatched to the 6300 block of Sunny Meadow Lane in Chino Hills to investigate a suspicious package left in the front yard of a residence. The suspect, identified as David Catalan, made statements through social media the package was a bomb.
Sheriff's Bomb and Arson was contacted to assist with the investigation. Catalan made numerous threats towards the victim and investigating law enforcement officers. Through investigation, the bomb was deternined to be fake and an arrest warrant was obtained for Catalan.
During a search for Catalan, he was located on Chino Hills Parkway and the 71 Freeway, and deputies conducted a traffic stop. Catalan was arrested and transported to the West Valley Detention Center. He was booked for terrorist threats and false bomb threat.
