INCIDENT: Hit and Run with Injuries / Driving Under the Influence of Drugs

LOCATION: Encelia Avenue / El Paseo Drive, Twentynine Palms

SUSPECT(S): Jason Paul Llamado, 45-year-old resident of Joshua Tree

SUMMARY: On Monday, May 29, 2023, at approximately 12:00 p.m., deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station responded to a report of a traffic collision, near the intersection of Encelia Avenue and El Paseo Drive in the city of Twentynine Palms.

Once deputies arrived, they located a vehicle with airbag deployment and substantial front end damage. The occupant of the vehicle complained of pain and was subsequently transported to a local hospital by San Bernardino County Fire Paramedics. While the deputy was conducting the traffic collision investigation, a concerned citizen called 911 and reported they were following an involved vehicle that fled the scene of this collision. Deputies on patrol near the area of Morongo and Two-Mile Roads observed a vehicle matching the description provided by the caller, which had extensive collision damage. After locating the vehicle, deputies conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The driver of this vehicle was identified as Jason Paul Llamado.

During this investigation, deputies determined Llamado was under the influence of drugs. He was also found to be driving with an expired driver's license and failed to show proof his vehicle was legally insured. Llamado was arrested for felony hit and run with injuries and driving under the influence of drugs, and booked into the West Valley Detention Center.
