Highland Park trees 'Wear Orange, Thursday 6/1
Looks for trees on Raritan Avenue wearing orange ribbons, to draw attention to National Gun Violence Awareness Month. As the Brady NJ State organization reports: "Every day, more than 300 people are directly impacted by gun violence in the United States. Gun Violence Awareness month was created to draw attention to this tragic reality and demand life-saving change. Gun violence prevention advocates and organizations nationwide have taken up the color orange as the color of gun violence awareness and the first Friday in June is now considered National Gun Violence Awareness Day."
Dog & Cat Rabies Clinic, Thursday 6/1, & Sunday 6/4
The Middlesex County Board of Health will be sponsoring a free Dog and Cat Rabies Clinic at the Department of Public Works, 444 Valentine Street on Thursday (6/1) from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Sunday (6/4) from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. For more information, please call Middlesex County at 732-745-3100.
Flag raising in honor of Juneteenth, Monday 6/19
The Human Relations Commission of the Borough of Highland Park invites residents and visitors to a flag raising in honor of the federal holiday, Juneteenth, at 10:00 a.m. at the Highland Park Community Center parking lot.
Flag Raising for Caribbean Heritage Month, Monday 6/12
Please join Mayor Elsie Foster and the Human Relations Commission to mark this annual celebration of the contributions of Americans from Caribbean countries to the United States. The flag raising will be held by the flagpole in the parking lot of the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Ave, starting at 6:00 pm.
Flag Raising for Pride Month, Monday 6/26
Please join Mayor Elsie Foster and the Human Relations Commission as they raise the flag to celebrate how LGBTQ Americans have strengthened our country, by using their talent and creativity to help create awareness and goodwill. The flag raising will be held by the flagpole in the parking lot of the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Ave, starting at 6:00 pm.

Free Groceries distribution H.P. Gives a Hoot, Tuesdays 6/6, 6/13, 6/20, & 6/27
Highland Park Gives a Hoot offers free groceries to Highland Park families in need of support. Distributions are held every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Zone 6 Teen Center, 600 Benner Street.
Food Pantry Distribution, Thursdays 6/8 & 6/22 & Saturdays 6/10 & 6/24

Fireworks in the Park, Sunday 7/2 (Raindate: Monday 7/3)
Festivities start at 5:00 p.m. with face painting, kid games, music and 18 food vendors will be on hand. Fireworks begin at approximately 9:20 pm.
Highland Park Police Youth Academy, Monday to Friday, 7/10 - 7/14

Parkstock Music Festival, Thursday 7/20, 7/27, 8/3 & 8/10
Highland Park's popular outdoor concert series is back on Thursday nights at Donaldson Park, Grove 1, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm starting in late July. Select food vendors will be there to offer food to accompany the music. Check out the lineup below!

Reminder to residents that Bulk Waste Collection are by appointment and can be scheduled on Wednesdays during the months of June, September and October. To make an appointment, please call Public Works at 732-247-9379. Each household may request up to two collections per year.
Highland Park Recreation Programs
Highland Park Recreation offers a variety of adult and youth programs. Families that qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible for a 60% discount on all programs offered by the Borough.
