Crime Blotter for the Week of May 21 – 27, 2023

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of May 21, 2023 – May 27, 2023.        
 
May 21, 2023

  • No significant activity.
 
May 22, 2023
  • Grand Theft Auto (Catalytic Converter):
500 Block of Elkhorn Drive. On May 22, 2023 at 1:30 AM, the owner of a 2007 Toyota Prius heard metal grinding near his vehicle.  The victim saw four unknown suspects near his vehicle. The victim yelled at the suspects, and they drove northbound in two vehicles. Responding deputies checked the victim’s vehicle and noticed the catalytic converter was stolen. No surveillance video is available.

 May 25, 2023
  • Grand Theft Auto:
2300 Block of Bloomdale Street. A victim reported their vehicle stolen near the 2300 Block of Bloomdale Street. The victim’s Infinity G37 was stolen from the location between May 24, 2023, 9:30 PM, and May 25, 2023, 3 PM and 1:10 PM. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. Industry Sheriff Station recovered the vehicle on May 25, 2023. No one is in custody.
  • Grand Theft (Vehicle):
1434 Buena Vista Street (Nissan of Duarte). On May 25, 2023, the dealership sold a vehicle to a male suspect without verifying sufficient funds in a cashier’s check. The cashier’s check was determined to be counterfeit. 
 
May 26, 2023
  • Assault with Deadly Weapon (Gunshot):
Joella Street/Citrus View Avenue. On May 26, 2023 at approximately 9:36 PM, an unknown person(s) shot a male juvenile once in the leg. The injury was not life-threatening. The LASD Operation Safe Street Bureau is investigating the incident.
  • Assault:
2000 Buena Vista Street (Beardslee Park). The victim reported that on May 26, 2023, he was playing soccer at the park when he collided with a player from the opposite team. The victim stated he was still lying on the floor when the opposing player kicked him once in the head, causing him to blackout. At the time of the report, no witnesses could be located. Station Detectives are investigating the incident.
  • Burglary (Residental):
500 Block of Fairwood Street. The victim reported that in October 2022 unknown person(s) stole miscellaneous personal items from his home totaling $7,500.00.
  • Grand Theft (Commercial):
1450 Mountain Avenue (Harbor Freight).  On May 26, 2023 at 11:56 AM, an adult suspect entered the business and stole miscellaneous tools totaling $1,500.00. The suspect was seen driving away in a Honda van.  Deputies recovered the security video and a license plate for the vehicle.
 
May 27, 2023
  • Burglary (Commerical):
1088 Hamilton Drive (Alcorn). The victim reported that between May 26, 2023 at 2 AM, and May 27, 2023 at 8:30 AM, unknown person(s) pried open the north door to his business and stole a TV, computer router, and “Dewalt” drill set totaling over $9,000.00. No surveillance video is available.

  • Buy a good shredder and use it.
