SMPD Arrests Ulta Beauty Theft Suspect
San Mateo, CA - On Saturday, May 20, 2023 at approximately 10:50 a.m., SMPD officers were dispatched to the Ulta Beauty on the report of a theft that occurred the previous day.
SMPD officers learned that on Friday, May 19, 2023 at approximately 7:44 p.m., a male suspect and a female suspect entered the Ulta Salon and concealed various merchandise in a shoulder bag and purse. The store’s general manager approached the female and asked the female if she planned to purchase the items in her purse. The female ignored the store manager and proceeded to walk towards the exit. Both the male and the female suspect exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the store’s merchandise concealed in their personal belongings. The suspects entered a black KIA, which was parked near the front of the store, and drove away from the store with approximately $1,245.00 worth of stolen goods.
SMPD continued the investigation over the following days. On May 30, 2023, Fremont Police Department officers located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of the Ulta Beauty store in Fremont. Fremont Police Department officers detained two males who were inside the vehicle in addition to a female who was inside the store. After viewing photos of the three detained individuals, SMPD officers excluded the two males as suspects from the San Mateo Ulta Beauty theft case, but identified the female, Rachel Ameperosa, as the suspect from the San Mateo Ulta Beauty theft. Fremont Police Department officers arrested Ameperosa. Additionally, SMPD officers identified the outstanding male suspect and an arrest warrant is pending. SMPD officers transported and booked Ameperosa into San Mateo County Jail for first degree burglary.
