El Police Police Department Crime Blotter From May 21st - May 27th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from May 21st, to May 27th.

May 21st
 
Vandalism – 11720 San Pablo Ave:
At 8:25 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect shattered a side window of a vehicle parked on San Pablo Avenue sometime overnight, but there was no known loss.  Window replacement estimate $800.

Battery – Central Ave / Carlson Blvd:
At 1:52 PM, an officer reports during a road rage incident the unidentified suspect spat from his vehicle window and the spittle landed on the victim’s vehicle and hands.  The victim then followed the suspect vehicle in an attempt to get his vehicle information.  The suspect threw an unidentified metal object from his vehicle at the following victim, and the object struck her vehicle.  The suspect then entered I-80 and the victim stopped following him.

Grand Theft- 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
 At 8:46 PM, an officer reports the victim secured his Ecotric electric bicycle next to a tree and went inside Lucky to shop. The victim returned later and discovered the bicycle had been stolen.
 
Organized Retail Theft- 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):
 At 8:49 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect fled the store with 10 pairs of shoes.

May 22nd
 
Auto Burglary and Fraudulent Use of Access Card – Pomona Ave at Moeser Ln./11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway)
At 12:00PM the suspect shattered the front passenger side window to the victim’s vehicle and stole her wallet. The suspect attempted to use the victim’s credit card at Safeway in El Cerrito, but the purchases were declined.   

Armed Robbery - BART Path / Eureka Ave
At 10:06PM, the victim was riding his scooter and robbed by two suspects, one of which was armed with a handgun.  The suspects fled the area.
 
Commercial Burglary – 11888 San Pablo Ave (The Nug)
At 5:01AM, officers were dispatched to a panic and glass break alarm at the business.  The front window had been rammed by a vehicle and an unknown amount of product stolen.  Three vehicles arrived with at least (6) suspects.  One of the vehicles was used to ram the front window.  All three vehicles fled the scene prior to officers arrival.
 
May 23rd
 
Vandalism – 10200 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 6:57PM, the suspect shattered the window to the victim’s apartment.

Shoplifting– 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreen’s)
At 3:18PM, the suspect entered the store and placed merchandise in his backpack.  The suspect fled on foot. 
 
Fraud – 6400 block of Conlon Ave
At 5:55PM, the victim participated in an online shoe raffle.  The victim paid the suspect $222.00 using Apple cash and never heard from the suspect again.
 
Felony Vandalism – 2500 block of Alva Ave
At 10:38PM, the victim’s vehicle was vandalized.
 
May 24th
 
Stolen Vehicle – 7300 block of Stockton Ave.
The victim’s vehicle was stolen last night from 11:30PM to 5:30AM this morning.   
   
Counterfeit Bills – 11430 San Pablo Ave (Pet Food Express)
At 12:44PM the suspects used four counterfeit $100 bills to purchase items.
 
May 25th
 
Organized Retail Theft– 5805 Cutting Blvd. (Sketchers)
At 1:45PM the suspects entered the store and filled a large bag with shoes.  The suspect exited the store without paying and got into a vehicle and fled the area. 

May 26th
 
Vandalism – 6495 Portola DR:
At 9:59 AM, a known suspect came to victim’s residence and caused damage to the front door.

Vehicle Burglary – 1600block of  Everett St:
At 10:59 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect shattered the left rear window of the victim's vehicle and stole items between 8:00 AM on 5/25 and 10:45 AM on 5/26.

Battery – 7300 block of Pebble Beach Dr:
At 11:52 hours, the suspect got into an argument with the victim.  During the argument, the suspect knocked the victim down.

Shoplift/Warrant- 11545 San Pablo Ave (Ross):
At 8:18 PM, an officer responded to the business for an unwanted subject. During the investigation, the subject attempted to leave the business with merchandise when asked to leave. The subject was placed under citizen’s arrest. During a search incident to arrest, the subject was found to be in possession of a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine. A records check of the subject revealed he had an active warrant out of Marin County. The subject was booked at the ECPD and released on a citation.
 
May 27th
 
Possess Controlled Substance / Possess Paraphernalia / Warrant Arrests – 6009 Potrero Ave (Hotel Mira Vista - Berkeley North):
At 12:05 PM, an officer reports the arrest of a 37 year old Vallejo man on a Vacaville PD drug warrant during a suspicious vehicle contact.  During a search incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of .7 grams of methamphetamine and a pipe.  The passenger in the vehicle was also arrested on a $25K no cite grand theft warrant out of San Francisco.  The man was field cited for the warrant and the new charges.  The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the county jail.

DUI/Hit and Run/Disobeying an Officer- 9901 San Pablo Ave:
At 9:09 PM, an officer was patrolling in the area and located a vehicle collision. As the officer approached the vehicles, a subject attempted to flee the scene. The officer chased the subject a short distance until the subject fell to the ground. The subject, who appeared to be intoxicated was determined to be the driver of the vehicle that collided into a parked vehicle. The subject suffered minor injuries to her face from either the fall or the collision and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. At the hospital a blood sample was obtained from the suspect and the case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
