Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of May 22-28, 2023

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There were two robberies and an attempted robbery during the past week.

On Monday, 05-22-23, at 9:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to Nordstrom Rack on a report of a possible robbery. A loss prevention agent stated that he observed a suspect conceal two pairs of shoes and a backpack worth approximately $385 into a bag he was carrying. The suspect entered the dressing room, exited, and proceeded down the escalator. The suspect walked past the registers without paying for the items and left the store. The loss prevention agent attempted to detain the suspect and suffered a 3” scratch on his right wrist and forearm. The loss prevention agent asked the suspect to return the items, which he did. Afterward, the suspect fled but was stopped in front of Target by a Broadmoor police officer. The loss prevention agent was transported by an officer to Target, and subsequently identified the suspect, a 29-year-old Oakley resident. This case will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office.

On Tuesday, 05-23-23, at approximately 2:27 p.m., at the Chase Bank on Southgate Avenue, a suspect hit a victim in the face three times with a handgun and stole between $1,000 and $3,000. The victim stated that as he was depositing money into the ATM, the suspect hit him in the head with a blunt object. The victim later realized it was a handgun. The victim was hit two more times in the head. The suspect grabbed the victim’s money from the ATM and pointed the gun at the victim. The suspect was described as a skinny Black male, approximately 6’0” tall, 25-30 years old, and wearing a multicolored sweatshirt and blue jeans. This investigation is continuing.

On Wednesday, 05-24-23, at 11:35 a.m., Round Table Pizza on Junipero Serra Boulevard was the victim of an attempted robbery. A suspect entered the restaurant and handed the cashier a note that stated, “This is a robbery. Give me the money. Do not call the police.” The cashier called her coworker over, who also read the note, and then shrugged his shoulders. The suspect snatched the note from the coworker’s hands and then left the store. The cashier described the suspect as a heavyset Black female, 5’10” tall, and wearing a light blue surgical head covering, light blue mask, black hooded sweatshirt, dark blue scrubs, and white gloves. The suspect fled in a newer model white Chevy sedan with a rear spoiler. This investigation is continuing.

On Wednesday, 05-24-23, at approximately 6:18 a.m., on the 800 block of Campus Drive, there was a residential burglary. It is unknown if anything was stolen. The suspects forced entry to the front door. A neighbor saw a suspect holding a drill and described the suspect as a slim White male, 35-40 years old, with long black hair combed back, and wearing a long-sleeved black shirt with a logo on the left chest area and black pants. A second male suspect was wearing a hoodie, possibly a black zip-up jacket, and grey shorts with black pants underneath. The third suspect was described as a thin White female in her forties wearing a black top, black jacket with a hoodie, and a white fanny pack.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
