INCIDENT NARRATIVE:
Amsterdam Police detectives announce the arrest of Anthony Morales of Tallahassee, Florida after a six-month long investigation into crimes committed by Morales.
On April 27, 2023, an arrest warrant was signed for Anthony Morales by the Honorable Judge Lisa W. Lorman out of Amsterdam City Court. The warrant was sent to the United States Marshal Service for assistance in locating Anthony Morales who was now residing in the state of Florida.
On May 4, 2023, Amsterdam detectives were notified by the United States Marshal Service that Anthony Morales was taken into custody in Tallahassee, Florida and was being held pending an extradition hearing at the Leon County Correctional Facility.
Anthony Morales waived extradition and on May 17, 2023, Amsterdam detectives travelled to Tallahassee, Florida and brought Anthony Morales back to Amsterdam, NY. Anthony Morales was charged with one (1) count of Predatory Sexual Assault against a Child and four (4) counts of Criminal Sexual Act in the first degree.
Anthony Morales was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and remanded to the custody of the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
The Amsterdam Police Department is being assisted in this investigation by the Office of the Montgomery County District Attorney Lorraine Diamond.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
