INCIDENT: PC 470(a) – Forgery
LOCATION: Desert Community Bank, 16003 Quantico Road, Apple Valley
VICTIM(S): 89-year-old Male Resident of Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Ryan Starr, 38-year-old Male Resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY:
On Monday, April 10, 2023, at approximately 4:06 p.m. the victim, an 89-year-old male, called to report fraudulent activity on his banking account.
Sheriff’s Service Specialist Courtney Rodriguez responded to the victim’s residence and completed a report of a forged check for the victim. SSS Rodriguez investigated this incident and learned the victim’s account had fraudulent checks written totaling approximately $30,000.
Detective David Fratt assumed the investigation and positively identified Ryan Starr as a subject who attempted to cash one of the victim’s checks.
On Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at approximately 2:00 p.m. Detective Fratt found Starr to be in custody at West Valley Detention Center.
Starr was additionally booked for forgery with a bail amount of $30,000.
