On June 2, 2023, at approximately 9:45 a.m., there was an altercation with a knife between a small group of students attending the San Mateo High Summer School Program. SMPD quickly arrived on campus and secured the scene for medics to treat the victim. The victim suffered minor injuries and had been treated by school wellness staff prior to the arrival of the medics. The school is under secure campus during the ongoing investigation. Students are safe and there are no other injuries or threats to the remaining students on campus.
