...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING... WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey and southeast New York, including the following counties, in northeast New Jersey, Bergen. In southeast New York, Rockland. WHEN...Until 800 PM EDT. IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 600 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Nanuet, Tappan, Pearl River, Oradell, Norwood, Orangeburg, Dumont, Westwood, Hillsdale, River Vale, Valley Cottage, Park Ridge, Cresskill, Closter, Montvale, Hillcrest, Emerson, New Square, Old Tappan and Blauvelt. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
