On 06/02/2023 at 8:19pm multiple Janesville Officers and Janesville Fire Department units responded to subjects possibly overdosing in a parking garage at 200 N. Jackson St. Officers located Demarco Whitby and Ricki Whitby both unconscious in a vehicle. Three children were located in the vehicle under the age of 6. Through investigation, it was determined Ricki and Demarco had both operated the vehicle and used heroin, cocaine, and alcohol while driving with the children in the vehicle. The children were unharmed in the incident and turned over to a responsible party. Ricki and Demarco were both medically treated and taken to Rock County Jail on the following charges. Arrested: Ricki Whitby 26 Y/O Female Demarco Whitby 31 Y/O Male Charges for both: 346.63(1)(a) – Operating While Intoxicated w/ Passengers under 16 948.21 – Felony Child Neglect – 3 Counts 961.41(3g)(c) – Possession of Cocaine 961.41(3g)(am) – Possession of a Narcotic Drug 961.41(3g)(b) – Possession of Controlled Substance – 2 counts 961.41(3g)(e) – Possession of THC Additionally, Janesville Police and Fire have responded to 4 other suspected opiate related overdoses in the last 36 hours. The police department cautions against any use of illegal narcotics, and encourages those facing addiction(s) proactively seek treatment.
