Full Notification

On June 3, 2023, at approximately 3:55 a.m., the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety received a 911 call of a vehicle collision in the area of the 600 block of Rohnert Park Expressway. Police, Fire, and Medical resources where dispatched and arrived on scene within minutes.  When they arrived on scene, they located a gray two door sedan on its roof in the east bound lanes of Rohnert Park Expressway. Inside the vehicle, they located a single adult male deceased in the driver’s seat.
 
During the investigation, patrol officers and the accident investigation team learned that the vehicle was driving in the parking lot of a nearby shopping center. The vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed colliding with a large shopping center sign, causing the vehicle to overturn. The investigation showed that the vehicle collision was a result of an intentional act where the driver took his own life.
 
Due to the collision blocking a portion of the eastbound lanes of Rohnert Park Expressway, the roadway was closed and a nixle was sent out to avoid the area. Once the investigation was completed the roadway was reopened.
 
No additional information about the victim will be released at this time until next of kin has been notified.
