Flash Flood Warning until 09:15PM Saturday

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Southern Curry County in east central New Mexico... Northeastern Roosevelt County in east central New Mexico...

* Until 915 PM MDT.

* At 623 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across a large portion of southern Curry County. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen over parts of the area. The heaviest amounts have occurred along U.S. 60 near Saint Vrain, State Road 224, State Road 311, and County Roads Z, 13, and 15. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area, including Clovis. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Clovis, Texico, Melrose, Ranchvale, Cannon Air Force Base, Saint Vrain, Portair and Pleasant Hill. This includes the following highways... Highway 60 between Mile Markers 358 and 397.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CURRY, NM ... ROOSEVELT, NM

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of normally dry arroyos and streambeds, low water crossings, intersections and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low lying areas.
