Suspicious vehicle call leads to arrest of Owensville man on outstanding warrant.

On June 4, 2023, at 6:17 p.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a 911 call from a citizen reporting that a White 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan had approached an individual on County Road 400 West near State Road 64 (west of Princeton) and asked if they needed a ride.  The individual stated that they did not, and the vehicle followed them until they returned to their home.  A member of the reporting party’s family followed the vehicle until law enforcement was able to locate it in the 200 block of North Back Street in Patoka.  Upon arriving with the vehicle Deputy Michael Owens began an investigation into the incident.  During the investigation it was revealed that 43-year old William Murphree of Owensville, Indiana had an active warrant out of Sullivan County for Auto Theft.  At the conclusion of Deputy Owens investigation he transported Mr. Murphree to the Gibson County Jail where he is being held without bond for Sullivan County.

Assisting Deputy Owens in his investigation was Deputy Logan Lashbrook.
