Media Information:
On two separate occasions in the past week Redwood City Officers have proactively taken illegally possessed guns off the street.

On May 29th at around 657 PM Redwood City Patrol Officers responded to the area of Samson and Winslow streets on the report of a large fight where a firearm may have been brandished. While on scene a Redwood City Patrol Officer stopped an involved vehicle for not stopping at a stop sign. There were five occupants in the vehicle. The officer saw, in plain view, a loaded revolver under the front, passenger seat. The occupants were detained and the firearm was recovered (No photo available).  Four male juveniles, all Redwood City residents, were released to their parents. One adult, Redwood City resident Julio Garcia, 21 years old, was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for illegally possessing the firearm.

On June 4th at around 740 PM a Redwood City Patrol Officer stopped a car for expired registration. There were three occupants in the vehicle, one of which was on probation. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Glock 9mm under the driver’s seat. Redwood City residents Jose Cota (21), Francisco Palestino (22) and Menlo Park resident Angel Castanedagonzales (22) were all arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for illegal firearms possession.
