OPD Officers Receive Attorney General’s Award

Two Oakland Police Department (OPD) officers were honored by United States Attorney General Merrick Garland for Distinguished Service in Community Policing. On Monday, June 5, 2023, Officer Pedram Farhang and Officer Jimmy Pittman were presented the awards in Washington, D.C., at the 6th annual ceremony.
The Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service in Community Policing recognizes individual state, local, or tribal sworn police officers, deputies, and troopers who exemplify remarkable achievements in innovative community policing strategies, criminal investigations, and field operations.
More than 200 law enforcement officers were nominated for the award, and Officer Farhang and Officer Pittman were among the 19 selected for the top honor.
