Air Quality Alert
Much of New York State is currently experiencing a haze due to smoke from Canadian wildfires drifting across the state. The smoky skies are the result of more than 160 forest fires burning in Quebec. As a result of the smoke, air quality alerts are in effect for our area. According to DEC, the air quality in much of the State is forecasted to be "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" meaning that members of sensitive groups may experience health effects, but the general public is not likely to be affected. According to the NWS Air Quality Alerts, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. At this time, DEC has not issued an extended forecast.
