The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Action Day for Bergen County until midnight, Thursday, June 8, 2023.

Due to wildfire smoke transport from eastern Canadian wildfires, an Air Quality Action Day for Particulate Matter has been declared today Wednesday, June 7th and Thursday, June 8th. Sensitive individuals, including those with heart or lung disease, the elderly, and the young should limit strenuous activities and the amount of time active outdoors.
 
Levels of fine particulates will rise to unhealthy levels for the sensitive groups category statewide today and Thursday and likely last into the evening hours both days.  In addition, ozone is forecast to reach the moderate category on today as sunny skies, light winds, and warm temperatures are forecast for the State of New Jersey.
