Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of Unlawful Loaded Firearm
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 5, 2023, at approximately 10:40 p.m.
INCIDENT: PC 25850(A)- Carrying a Loaded Firearm and CVC 12500(A) - Driving Without a License
LOCATION: Needles Highway & Pashard Street, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): Luis Jimenez, 40 Years-Old, Resident of Phoenix, AZ
Alfredo Contello, 19 Years-Old, Resident of Mesa, AZ
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Monday, June 5, 2023, at approximately 10:40 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Needles Highway and Pashard Street, for vehicle code violations.
During the traffic stop, deputies contacted several subjects, none of which had identification nor a drivers license. A search of the vehicle was conducted and deputies located a firearm with several loaded magazines.
The driver, Luis Jimenez, was arrested for CVC 12500(A) - Driving without a License. Passenger, Alfredo Contello, was arrested for PC 25850(A)- Carrying a Loaded Firearm. Both subjects were transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. Jimenez and Contello were each issued a citation and were later released with a future court date.
