Advisory

Denville Recreation Fields Closed 06/07 Due to Air Quality Alert

Earlier today, the NJ Department of Environmental Protection issued an air quality alert due to the high level of unhealthy particular matter in the air for Morris County.

As a result, the Denville Township Recreational fields shall be closed today, June 7th, 2023.

The other recommendations from the State of New Jersey and the Township Health Officer are as follows:

1) People with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens should take any of these steps to reduce their exposure:

  • Avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
  • Keep outdoor activities short.
  • Consider moving physical activities indoors or rescheduling them.
2) Everyone else should take any of these steps to reduce thier exposure:
  • Choose less strenuous activities (like walking instead of running) so you don’t breathe as hard.
  • Shorten the amount of time you are active outdoors.
  • Be active outdoors when air quality is better.
The Township will continue to monitor the air quality as a result of the smoke for the next 24 hours and will make a determination on or before 2:00 P.M. on Thursday if the fields will be re-opened.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
