The NJ Department of Environmental Protection has issued an air quality alert due to the high level of unhealthy particular matter in the air for Morris County.
 
As a result, the Denville Township Recreational fields shall remain closed today, Thursday, June 8, 2023.
 
The other recommendations from the State of New Jersey and the Township Health Officer are as follows:
 
 
People with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens – take any of these steps to reduce your exposure:

• Avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
• Keep outdoor activities short.
• Consider moving physical activities indoors or rescheduling them.

Everyone else – take any of these steps to reduce your exposure:

• Choose less strenuous activities (like walking instead of running) so you don’t breathe as hard.
• Shorten the amount of time you are active outdoors.
• Be active outdoors when air quality is better.

The Township will continue to monitor the air quality for the next 24 hours and will make a determination on or before 2:00 P.M. on Friday if the fields will be re-opened.
