Traffic Enforcement Details Week of June 10th Through June 16th:

In an effort to address recurring traffic safety concerns within the Township, the South Brunswick Police Department will be conducting the following directed traffic enforcement details during the week of June 10th through June 16th:

West Side:
Sandhill Road: Speeding, Distracted Driving, and Weight Limit Ordinance Violations

East Side:
Fresh Ponds Road: Speeding, Distracted Driving, and Weight Limit Ordinance Violations

These traffic enforcement details will be conducted in addition to our Department's routine traffic enforcement efforts.

Safety Tips for Pedestrians:

Due to a nationwide continued rise in pedestrian fatalities, we offer the following reminder on how to be a safe and responsible pedestrian.

  • If a sidewalk or path is available, you must use it. Do not walk in the street if there is a sidewalk present. If neither a sidewalk nor a path is available, walk facing traffic and as far from cars as possible.
  • Cross streets at marked crosswalks or intersections whenever possible; this is where drivers expect pedestrians. If neither is an option, locate a well-lit area, wait for a gap in traffic that allows you enough time to cross safely, and continue to watch for traffic as you cross.
  • Avoid distractions and stay alert. Walkers wearing headphones or using a cell phone might not hear a car horn, or could miss a traffic signal at a crosswalk.
  • Never assume drivers see you; they could be distracted or impaired. It’s best to make eye contact with drivers to make sure you are seen.
  • Be visible. Wear bright clothing during the day, and wear reflective materials or use a flashlight at night.
  • Avoid alcohol and drugs when walking; they impair your judgment and coordination.
