INCIDENT: Traffic Collision – Vehicle vs Pedestrian
LOCATION: Calimesa Boulevard, between Wildwood Canyon Road and Oak Glen Road, Yucaipa
VICTIM(S): 15-year-old male juvenile from Yucaipa
SUMMARY: On Sunday, June 11, 2023, at about 3:46 a.m., a motorist drove a 2011 Ford SUV west on Calimesa Boulevard about on-half mile west of the intersection with Wildwood Canyon Road. A 15-year-old male juvenile attempted to cross the street in front of the SUV. Both attempted to avoid colliding but were unsuccessful. The juvenile suffered significant trauma and was unconscious. The motorist and several other vehicles stopped to render aid and summon help.
First responders were unable to identify the juvenile at the scene and his cellphone was destroyed, preventing anyone from being able to contact his family. The juvenile was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center and is listed in critical condition. With the help of Yucaipa Calimesa Unified School District and social media, the juvenile was identified, and his family was notified.
