| The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is proud to partner with the Ventura County Fire Department and the California Highway patrol to announce a unique “Coffee with the Badges” event in support of the First Responders for Mental Health Awareness Initiative. Coffee with the Badges brings the police, fire departments and community members together, over coffee, to promote awareness about mental health issues that affect 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. On Thursday, June 22nd, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Ojai Police Chief, Captain Trina Newman, Ventura County Fire Division Chief Barry Parker, and Captain Jarod Primicerio with the California Highway Patrol, Ventura office, will be at The Local Cup located at 485 N. Ventura Avenue, in the unincorporated area of Oak View, sharing a cup of coffee with neighbors. Trust is a key element in our on-going relationships with the communities we serve and what better way to do it than over a great cup of coffee. Ventura County First Responders invites the community to come out and ask questions, voice concerns, get crime prevention advice, and get to know the First Responders in your neighborhood. This is a relaxed, informal event and is not about speeches or agendas, but simply about casual conversation. The goal of Coffee with the Badges is to engage our community, discuss concerns and raise awareness for mental health. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and Ojai Police Department are committed to increasing and strengthening community partnerships and utilizing technologies and evidence-based practices to enhance collaborative efforts at reducing crime and improving public safety of all residents.
