On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, detectives with the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force were conducting a firearms investigation in the 2900 block of N. Graham Avenue due to ongoing violence in the area. Investigators observed four males they were familiar with due to prior investigations loitering in the apartment complex’s parking lot. Detectives observed one of the males armed with a handgun they knew was prohibited from possessing as a 16-year-old juvenile. The juvenile later entered a vehicle and left the area.
Indiana Crime Guns Task Force Make Multiple Arrest in Firearms Investigation
On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, detectives with the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force were conducting a firearms investigation in the 2900 block of N. Graham Avenue due to ongoing violence in the area. Investigators observed four males they were familiar with due to prior investigations loitering in the apartment complex’s parking lot. Detectives observed one of the males armed with a handgun they knew was prohibited from possessing as a 16-year-old juvenile. The juvenile later entered a vehicle and left the area.
Detectives continued their investigation and conducted a high-risk traffic stop in the 3000 block of Franklin Road, where they took the 16-year-old into custody. Detectives contacted the driver identified as 41-year-old Frank Williams, who was later arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and dealing in marijuana. A third occupant of the vehicle, a 14-year-old, was also arrested for marijuana possession.
The 16-year-old juvenile was arrested for carrying a handgun by a prohibited person.
Detectives returned to the area and arrested 28-year-old Louis Williams for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Under Indiana code 35-47-2-1.5, anyone under the age of 18 is a prohibited person.
A charge of a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make the final charging decision.
