Last night at about 9:10 PM, the San Leandro Police Department received multiple calls regarding a shooting in front of the St. Moritz Garden Apartments at 14744 Washington Avenue.  When officers arrived on scene, they located two males, 16 and 17 years of age suffering from gunshot wounds.  Officers began administering aid to the victims, who were transported to a local hospital.  Unfortunately, the 16-year-old succumbed to his injuries, while the 17-year-old is in stable condition. 
 
“Our investigators have been working non-stop since shortly after the incident occurred,” said Assistant Chief Luis Torres.
 
At this time, we do not have a suspect description to share, but we are asking for the community’s assistance if they have any information about this incident.
 
City of San Leandro Mayor Juan González said, "It pains me to share that a teenage resident lost his life last night due to gun violence. I ask that San Leandro residents offer their prayers and support the teenager’s grieving family and friends, and that we also offer healing prayers for the second victim, that he make a full recovery. Also, I ask for the person or people involved in this heinous crime to recognize the sanctity of life and turn themselves into the authorities."
 
Police will not be releasing any more information regarding this shooting at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.
