A total of nine juveniles were arrested after participating in two separate attacks on rival gang members in Thousand Oaks. During these attacks which were committed for the benefit of a criminal street gang, victims were battered before having property taken from them by force. Detectives with the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit recently learned of a robbery committed by four Thousand Oaks juvenile gang members in a shopping center located in the 200 block of N. Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks. During this incident, four juveniles attacked two juvenile members of a rival street gang. One of the victims was battered and had his shoes forcefully stolen from him. This incident was captured on video and all suspects were identified. On June 3rd, 2023, the victims of the above attack, along with three other male juveniles, attacked a juvenile victim in the 600 block of Avenida De La Plata in Newbury Park. During this incident, the suspects battered and forcefully held the victim down on the ground with a knife held near his neck, while his shoes were also forcefully removed. This incident was also captured on surveillance video and all suspects were identified. On the dates of June 13th and 14th, Detectives from the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit and Directed Enforcement Unit, located and arrested nine juveniles involved in the two incidents. All juveniles were booked into the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Center with a court date pending. The Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit consists of seven detectives who focus their efforts on protecting citizens of Thousand Oaks by actively investigating crime and pursuing suspects. SEU also works to monitor and suppress gang activity. The Thousand Oaks Police Department takes a zero-tolerance stance against gang violence and encourages anyone with information regarding criminal or gang activity to notify Sheriff’s Dispatch by calling 911, or (805) 654-9511 in non-emergencies.
