IMPD Homicide Detectives Make Arrest Hours After Early Morning Homicide Investigation.
On Thursday, June 15, 2023, IMPD Homicide detectives arrested 45-year-old Keith Phillips for his alleged role in the death of 29-year-old Wayne Nalley.
On Thursday, June 15, 2023, just before 4:00 am, IMPD East District officers were dispatched to 2046 N. Spencer Ave, on a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an unresponsive adult male, later identified as Wayne Nalley, inside this residence with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). IEMS responded and pronounced Nalley deceased at the scene.
IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene to further the investigation. Thanks to community assistance, detectives were able to identify Phillips as the suspect in this case. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) assisted and determined the exact cause of death to be homicide.

Within hours, the IMPD Violent Crime Unit located Philips and took him into custody without incident. He was arrested for murder. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decision.
